Challenging a domain name
Did you know that even if your company's name has been taken as a domain name, you may still be able to register it? If your company has a trademarked name that has already been taken as a domain name, it is possible to challenge the current domain name owner. If you think your company may fall into this category, let us know. Even if you do not have a trademarked name, we can help you register a great name for your company or organization. Just because a domain name is registered does not mean it isn't available! We can do extensive searches to help you locate a domain name you may think is impossible to obtain.

Determining the proper domain extension
Historically, you could choose from a .COM, .NET, and .ORG domain name. The .COM extension remains the most recognized and many web users will automatically use this when looking for a website. If your industry is telecommunications related, then a .NET extension may be a good option, particularly if you are unable to find a desirable .COM domain. For a non-profit, registering a .ORG domain name is a virtual necessity. Today a wide assortment of domain extensions are available (see the above domain search form). Some notable extensions include .MOBI (for mobile sites), .CO (a shorter .COM alternative) that is suited for companies, .NAME (for personal sites), and various country extensions.

Do I have to register my domain name through Webspace Creations?
No, as long as your preferred domain registration company includes DNS service with each domain name. Registering your domain name through Webspace Creations, however, will enable us to assist you with any domain name problems you may have. Also registering through Webspace Creations enables you to manage your domain name right from your account.

Is domain registration included with hosting?
If you wish to pre-pay for one year, please contact us to request a free domain name. If you have hosted your account on a monthly payment plan for at least six (6) months and registered your domain name with us, you can request that your account be credited the price you paid for a one year registration; we will also renew it for you as a complimentary service so long as you maintain your hosting account with us.

Researching a domain name
Depending on your intended use of a domain name, it may be prudent to perform federal and state trademark searches to minimize risk of infringement. If your domain name infringes on a trademarked name, you may be forced to relinquish your domain name. For this reason, it is important to perform a comprehensive trademark search before building your business around a particular domain name.

Select a domain name (preferably several) that are descriptive of your business and easily remembered, then check to see if any of these are available here on our website. We will attempt to find similar versions for you if your primary choice is unavailable.
